The Rocky Mountain Rail Authority wants to bring high–speed rail to the two primary travel corridors in Colorado. Interstate 70 which is the mountain corridor and runs between Denver to Grand junction, and Interstate 25 which runs north and south along the Front Range from Wyoming to New Mexico.
A feasibility study was conducted by the RMRA in order to complete an objective assessment of actually implementing high–speed rail service along these predetermined travel corridors. The study will identify the next steps to be taken by RMRA and it's partner agencies toward actually building the high–speed trains.
The $20 Billion Dollar Ski Train
The possibility of any sort of high–speed rail or train is exciting to those railroad enthusiasts and for the business community in Colorado who see this rail system as a huge boon for the state's ski and outdoor recreation business which brings in about $10 billion per year. It seems a lot of folks have been pushing for a network of trains like the current rail systems in Europe.
