According to author Gary Chapman, there are five love languages with which people express and feel loved. The Five Love Languages by Chapman identifies each one, explaining what they are and why couples should know each of the five. Or more specifically, how the knowledge of one’s partner’s love language or languages is vital to help him or feel loved.

The five languages of love are:

  • Words of affirmation
  • Quality time
  • Receiving gifts
  • Acts of service
  • Physical touch

Showing a loved one on Valentine’s Day exactly what she means to a person can take on greater meaning if he is familiar with her love language. Being aware of it and then acting on this knowledge can be the perfect way to make her Valentine’s Day.

Words of Affirmation

Some people love to be affirmed or built up by words. They can also just as easily be wounded by words. For someone whose love language is words of affirmation, a gift in the form of a poem or telling her how much she means may speak more than a gift without a message.
