It’s Saturday morning, rat-tat-tat on your door. Who could that be? Jehovah’s Witnesses at the door wanting to discuss a current events topic and how it relates to the Bible. Warm smiles, briefcase in hand; should you let them in?

If not, then how about from a comfortable distance? The PBS Knocking video produced by Joel P. Engardio and Paul Shepherd (not Jehovah’s Witnesses), gives you an idea of the human side of Jehovah’s Witnesses, providing accurate information on the religion, the controversies, and history, as well as taking you house to house with Seth Thomas and his father. The portrait-bios of three Jehovah’s Witnesses from widely divergent backgrounds gives you an idea of the history of Jehovah’s Witnesses and a real-life view of how Jehovah’s Witnesses are the same, and different, from other Christian religions.

The Knocking.org site is worth taking a look at for those who are interested in unbiased and accurate information on the religion, (of value as there is much propaganda on the internet which is both biased and innacurate). The video is of interest and includes an interview with Gene Smalley, an assistant to the Writing Committee of the Governing Body of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Brooklyn, NY, where the headquarters of Jehovah’s Witnesses currently is located. (Plans are being made to shift the headquarters of to the Wallkill complex in upstate New York).

The video was worth seeing for both Jehovah’s Witnesses and non-Jehovah’s Witnesses, for supporters and for opposers. It has value in its humanistic portrayal of the feelings of children experiencing religious persecution, and the deep emotions of a father towards his son. It confronts the issue of Jehovah’s Witnesses and blood transfusions, and gives you a glimpse of a liver transplant in action, an operation performed without blood transfusions on Jehovah’s Witnesses.
